Bienvenue à Espace Culturel Jacques Brel
In Atuona, a path leds up to the cliffs of the calvary cemetery where the graves of the singer Jacques Brel and painter Paul Gauguin can be found. A true haven of peace and emotion, the cemetery is built on terraces and overlooks the magnificent bay of Atuona.
In the vicinity of Atuona going towards the airport, on a site overlooking the Tahauku bay and the island of Hanakee, a monument in the memory of Jacques Brel has been erected.
Close to the airport runway, his small plane “Beechcraft Bonanza” is exposed and which was bestowed with the name “Jojo”.
